SAP Business One Atlanta Chicago Implementing Brand ERP with modest budget
SAP is often associated with high price tag in the ERP software world. You should hear different opinion especially about SAP Business One small business accounting, ERP and MRP package
Below is the article composed by Andrew Karasev our SAP B1 expert and Dynamics GP certified master. If you would like to share your opinion feel free to call us. Andrew will find the time to talk to you and share his ideas
There is definite association of SAP brand with ERP and Business Automation software. However there is popular mistake that this vendor is only interested in Fortune 500 clients. This association might be close to reality back in 1980th and 1990th where software giants such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, IBM and Great Plains Software were fighting for large multinational corporations. In mid 1990th the reality of the market forced all these giants to go to the small customers and offer cheap accounting and ERP solutions. Let’s review Business One line and see how it could fit and even be customized for your needs:
1. Software acquisition. Business One is rebranded ERP package originally designed in Israel. In our opinion there are several strong points in this software. First of all it is available in major world languages including Chinese, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish (just to open the list). Second – it has balanced set of MRP, ERP, CRM, Financials and Human Resources features. Third – it is hosted in Microsoft SQL Server and open to various customization (MS Visual Studio SDK programming)and reporting tools (Crystal for example)
2. Competition and Pricing. From the cheap side its competitors include Peach Tree and QuickBooks. From the other end they are Microsoft Dynamics GP formerly known as Great Plains, Accpac, MAS 90 and similar. So from the price perspective you should expect one professional named user is slightly below three thousand dollars US. So it is likely to expect ten thousand as small project
We would like to allow some fresh air and switch to FAQ discussion with our internet audience:
Q. We are reviewing QuickBooks, Peach Tree and other canned software products. Are we in the right room to see SAP B1 demo?
A. The idea is good to get complete picture about the options. But we think that your budget might be too modest
Q. We have just found your publication via Google search. We have slightly different story as we are on obsolete version 2005A. We have list our relations with original consulting partner and several years we didn’t hear from them. Now we would like to upgrade to current release 8.82. Could you help us?
A. The answer is a bit complicated. Of course we are ready to consult you and help with day-to-day issues. But in order to get your version updated we need first to help you with reenrollment into annual contract with SAP. You should expect some penalty for contract lapsing but in any case we are ready to broke for you
Q. We do not consider our company as large one. But we have couple of international branches including the ones in Brazil and China. We think that we could afford fifty thousand on the budget. We need to know if software is reliable in Sao Paulo and in China
A. SAP is probably the only brand name offering the deal to small multinational companies. It is available in the mentioned countries. In Brazil you have pretty challenging SPED (Public Digital Bookkeeping System) XML filing requirements over the internet. SPED add-on is available and very stable. Number of named users might be up to two hundred and this should be enough for mid-market multinational organization
